Glacier Adventure

Soar over the massive Juneau Icefield on Era Flightseeing’s signature tour, the Glacier Adventure.

Visit a landscape from another world. Experience the spectacular icefalls and rock formations of the Juneau Icefield from the air and on foot. Accessible only by air, the region around the Juneau Icefield is filled with lush forests, glassy alpine lakes, jagged mountain peaks, and awe-inspiring glaciers.

On this unforgettable journey you may find Alaska’s unique glaciers in differing stages: advancing, retreating, cascading, or a one-of-a-kind floating glacier. After flightseeing our amazing glaciers, your pilot will gently set you down on one of these ancient “rivers of ice”. Under your pilot’s expert guidance you will get a chance to walk on an Alaskan glacier, explore the ancient landscape, and experience the otherworldly blue of Alaska‘s glacial ice!

Enjoy approximately 30 minutes of flight time and 20 minutes of exploration on the glacier during this adventure of a lifetime! Glacier walking boots are provided for added traction while on the glacier. Please allow two-hours for this tour.

Glacier Dog Sled Adventure

Forget horsepower. This tour is about dog power. This truly Alaskan adventure gives you the rare opportunity to mush your own sled team across a snow capped glacier. Learn the tricks of the trade from seasoned veterans of the legendary Alaskan Iditarod Race. Master the all-important commands of Hike! Gee! and Haw! Experience the unique thrill of zipping across a glacier behind a team of huskies. Our exclusive dog sled camp is located on the picturesque middle branch of the Norris Glacier. On your way there, you’ll enjoy a flightseeing trip over the Juneau Icefield. You’ll get to see some of nature’s most beautiful landscapes in areas that are accessible by air only.

The tour is highlighted with a 20-25 minute ride across the glacier with a professional dog musher. Passengers take turns riding in the basket and driving the dog team, along with your guide. This is an outstanding excursion for families and children! (Minimum age 2 years old)

Dress warmly and in layers. You’ll need a good jacket, hat, gloves, sunglasses and your sense of adventure! Please allow three hours for this tour. This tour operates from May 15th – August 31st.

Our tours operate under a Special Use Permit in the Tongass National Forest.
